The Regional Competitiveness Committee (RCC) led by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) recognized the Municipality of Dimataling as the Most Improved LGU in Zamboanga Peninsula for its strong performance in the Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) by the National Competitive Council (NCC).

Mayor Maria Dolores A. Baya received the award together with Municipal Treasurer Maridel T. Tejada during the 2017 CMCI Regional Awarding held on January 16, 2018 at the Garden Orchid Hotel, Gov. Camins Avenue, Zamboanga City.

The most competitive and improved LGU is awarded based on such indicators or measurements as economic dynamism, government efficiency and infrastructure.

Scores are determined by the values of the actual data, as well as the completeness of the submitted data. The higher the score of a city or municipality, the more competitive it is.

These awards were anchored on the “Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index,” an annual ranking of Philippine cities and municipalities based on competitiveness framework developed by Michael Porter, which is being used in a number of global surveys on competitiveness.

Mayor Baya wished to thank all the hardworking employees and staff of the LGU who in one way or another made this great achievement of the municipality under her administration possible. She recognized the efforts and contribution of every department of the LGU in their commitment to improve the frontline service especially in the area of business and licenses to better serve the constituents.

The Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index is an annual ranking of Philippine cities and municipalities developed by the National Competitiveness Council through the Regional Competitiveness Committees (RCCs) with the assistance of the United States Agency for International Development.
